Students that earn 300 volunteer hours from August 28, 2016 through August 1, 2017 will be included in our camping trip the weekend of August 18th. These hours must include a combination of church volunteering, community outreach efforts, and personal opportunities to serve others. Students will need to turn in their hours the first of each month for the previous month. Christ did not come to be served, but to serve (Matthew 20:28) and that is what we desire to see duplicated in and through our students.
This summer at Camp Junuluska the students decided that they would like to increase our missions giving through Speed the Light (STL). They set some lofty goals for a strong 2016 finish, and even conspired on how to increase it in 2017. Effective immediately, we will be collecting a missions offering during our Sunday and Wednesday student fellowships. The students are excited to begin this missions journey, and we are thrilled to support it 100%. Every dime given will be used for missions purposes. There is no better time than the present to help them learn the power of Godly stewardship. The students have a good grasp on sharing the gifts and talents that God has given them for His glory, now its time to tap into their treasure chest.
Every born again believer should feel comfortable with sharing how they came to know Jesus in a personal and intimate way. As we drive deep roots and challenge our students to soar, we want them equipped with the understanding and boldness to share the gospel of Jesus Christ in a loving and applicable manner. For the next 3 months, we will be studying the “Case for Christ” on Sundays and working through how to “Follow the Call” of Christianity on Wednesday nights. It’s time to go to school in the matters of faith, beliefs, Christianity, and the contrasting culture that challenges it.
